3 foreign citizens arrested for smuggling a particularly large amount of drugs to Georgia

The Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 3 foreign citizens on charges of illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and their illegal smuggling to Georgia.

According to the agency, the arrest was made as a result of complex operational measures and investigative actions jointly conducted by the employees of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Main Division of Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking, the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service.

According to the information of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on charges of illegal purchase and storage of a large amount of narcotic drugs and illegal smuggling to Georgia, the following foreign citizens are arrested: A.M., born in 1993, S.T., born in 1985, and M.L, born in 1987.

According to them, the crime is punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

"As a result of the personal search of the detainees, the police seized various types of narcotics as evidence. Law enforcement officers arrested A.M. at Tbilisi International Airport. As a result of his personal search, 125 packages containing 1 kilo and 352 grams of narcotic drug "cocaine" were seized as evidence. Up to 50 grams of narcotic "methadone" was seized from S.T., and as for the arrested M.L., during his personal search, the police seized narcotic drug "cocaine" packed in one package.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the agency said.
