The Ministry of Internal Affairs would like to express its profound sorrow over the death of Mirian Chelidze, (DoB1975) - the investigator of the investigation unit under Ambrolauri police Division, MIA says in a statement.
According to the Ministry, Police Major was performing his professional duties in Oni municipality and ensured the public order within the frames of the ongoing rescue operation in the disaster-affected zone when he felt unwell and died on the way to the hospital.
"Due to the death of Mirian Chelidze, the Ministry of Internal Affairs expressed deepest condolences to the family, relatives and employees of the late police officer," reads the MIA statement.
